Wedding Venue FAQ - The Killarney Oaks Hotel and Wedding Venue

There's a lot to think about when you start to plan your wedding, and in particular choosing the venue can raise a lot of questions.

We have put together some of the most common ones here, but our wedding team is waiting to answer all of your questions when you get in touch.

 


Do you have a one wedding a day policy?
- Yes we do have a one wedding a day policy.

How flexible are your packages?
- We tailor each package to suit our couples individual needs.

Do you offer a children’s menu?
- Yes, we offer an extensive children’s menu along with ensuring any dietary requirements a guest may have are met.

Is the Champagne Toast complimentary?
- No

Will there be discounted rates for guests?
-Yes, there is a discounted rate available on our Couple’s Block Booking

Can I have a marquee in the grounds?
- This is not currently an option, however, we have a beautiful new Wedding Garden Gazebo.

Can you provide a list of B & B’s and hotels in the area for guests?
- Of course, we can provide an alternative accommodation list

Are there special reductions for off-peak?
- Midweek weddings are subject to a 10% discount Monday – Thursday.

Is there a heated outdoor smoking area for my guests?
- There is a covered over outside area for all our guests.

Can the bridal party get ready at the venue?
- Of course, we will accommodate wherever possible.

Is there a charge to serve and set up the Wedding Cake?
- No

Is the hotel wheelchair accessible?
- Yes

What are the standard check in and check out time? Check in at 3pm and 12pm check out.
- Is it possible to check in earlier or check out later? If otherwise requested

Is there an in-house wedding coordinator? Will they be there for the duration of the reception?
– We have 2 dedicated wedding coordinators who will assist and guide you through your wedding planning process and be here to ensure the smooth running of your special day.

Are wedding chair covers & sashes included?
– Yes and are complimentary. We provide beautiful white chair covers with a selection of sash colours.

Are table centre pieces included and what type?
– Yes, you can choose between tall silver candelabras and or, elegant tall glass vases with fresh flowers.

Do you have recommendations for entertainment, wedding cake suppliers, hair dressers etc...?
– We can send you a list of suppliers contact details that we recommend.

Can we provide our own music for entrance song and/or first dance?
– Yes, we can play any song the wedding couple requests.

Are there special accommodation rates for our guests?
– Yes, we can offer reduced accommodation rates for wedding guests. (A limited number of rooms apply)

Is the bridal suite complimentary on the night of our wedding?
– Yes, and you will receive two other complimentary rooms.

Can we do a wedding tasting & how many can go to this?
– Yes there is a complimentary wedding tasting for bride and groom and four other guests are also complimentary.

Do you have a cake stand and knife?
– Yes, 3 tier or traditional stand for complimentary use.

Do you cater for children?
– Yes, kids have their own special wedding dinner menu, we can also set up activity books and colouring books to keep the little ones entertained. We can also assist in booking baby sitters.

Do you cater for special dietary requirements? Coeliac? Vegans?
– Yes of course, we just ask for adequate notice.

Do you have a red carpet?
– Yes, and it is placed at the entrance along with our floral arch accompanied by our door man, which leads to your arrival reception. It is the perfect setting providing great photo opportunities for your guests. 

Do you have a storage area for items we need to bring in for our wedding day e.g. sweets, wedding cake, bathroom baskets etc...?
– Yes, we can store all these items for you.

How much is the deposit & how do we pay?
– To secure the date, €1,000 is required and can be paid by credit card, money transfer, cash or cheque 

Is there parking for guests?
- Yes, there is complimentary parking for all guests

What is the deposit required?
– To secure the date, €1,000 is required and can be paid by credit card, money transfer, cash or cheque

When does the balance of payment have to be made?
- 75% of the estimated wedding bill to be paid 7 days prior to the wedding reception with the balance to be paid the morning after the wedding.

How can payment be made?
- All payments must be made in cash or bank draft. We regret we cannot accept credit cards or personal cheques for payment.

Is there a Cancellation Charge?
- While every effort will be made to re-let the facilities, any loss incurred by the hotel as a result of the cancellation will be recovered from you. Cancellations made within 8 weeks of the booked date will be charged in full.

How long will you hold a booking?
- We will hold a booking for two weeks and this date will be automatically released unless confirmed with a deposit

When do full numbers have to given?
- Approximate numbers must be given to the hotel 1 month in advance, and final numbers of your guests have to be specified 72 hours before the meal.

How many rooms can be block booked?
- 20 rooms can be block booked. The Bride and Groom will receive a complimentary Bridal Suite and two rooms for any guests of their choice.

What is complimentary?
- We offer a range of complimentary extras;

  • Red Carpet & Champagne Welcome for the Bride & Groom
  • Tea, Coffee, Selection of Minerals & Biscuits on Arrival for your Guests
  • Alternating Floral Centrepieces & Candelabra’s on all tables
  • Cake Stand provided for display of wedding cake
  • Engraved Cake Knife for cutting the cake which is your keepsake
  • Overnight Accommodation followed by a Champagne Breakfast for the Bride & Groom in our Luxury Suite
  • Two additional rooms to be offered to your parents, bridal party or guests of your choosing

Is there a Menu Tasting?
- Yes, there is a Menu Tasting for the bride and groom 4-6 weeks in advance.  Any additional parties attending your menu tasting will be charged a basic fee.

When does the full menu have to be finalised?
- The full menu must be finalised at least 4 weeks in advance

What extras are available?

  • Up Lighting

Will the hotel hold Wedding Gifts?
- It is hotel policy not to accept wedding gifts. These will be directed to a member of the bridal party.

What time will the bar close at?
- The bar will close at 2.00am. If you have a disco, this must finish at 2.30am. A Residents bar is not guaranteed, but if supplied will close at 3.00am.

Can we have a Civil Ceremony at Killarney Oaks Hotel?
- Yes,  we are fully approved and registered for civil ceremonies.

Can we have a civil partnership ceremony?
- Yes, we are delighted to host civil partnership ceremonies.
